The original works by Gauquelin
In 1955, Michel Gauquelin publishes "L'influence des astres", a book containing a study and refutation of previous statistical works done to test astrology and a presentation of his own work. He gathered XXXX birthdates of famous professionals : sportsmen, scientists, physicists, painters, writers... and tested different astrological factors
By a chi-square analysis, he finds statistical anomalies in professional groups (french sportsmen, painters, writers, scientists...). For example, scientists have more chances than others to have Saturn rising, culminating or setting at birth date. In the 1960-70s, with his wife Françoise Schneider-Gauquelin, they replicate and confirm the anomalies with data collected in other countries.
